GeneSTAR Tenderness markers to be included in Marker-Assisted EBVs

Catapult Genetics supports the recent announcement from Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) regarding use of tenderness markers in genetic evaluations, and supports use of marker panels in developing marker-assisted estimated breeding values (MA-EBVs) to help beef producers make informed breeding decisions.
Catapult Genetics is encouraged by recent results of the SmartGene project which underpin the recommendation to include the company’s GeneSTAR Tenderness genetic markers into development of official Trial MA-EBVs. At the same time, the company is optimistic about inclusion of marbling and feed efficiency marker data in future genetic evaluations.
